Government announces investment of eight million to reclassify the Promontory of Sagres

The Secretary of State for Tourism announced on Saturday that the government will invest eight million euros in upgrading the Promontory of Sagres, in order to reissue the proximity of Portugal with its history.

The first phase of the project, which begins later this year, estimated at four million, provides for the rehabilitation of the Fort and the buildings of 90 years, re-equip the auditorium with advanced multimedia technology, rehabilitation of the Church of Our Lady of Grace and the Plaza de Armas. The project also comprises the placing of a system of power generation by photovoltaic panels, which feed the lighting circuit of the historic building, and the marking of footpaths to facilitate the mobility of users. The works will also give Fortress a Expositivo Center, which will host an interactive exhibition on permanent and Sagres Discovery, and the auditorium display a film illustrating the history of Sagres. Wonders of Sagres and Inauguration of the Statue of Infante D. Henrique mark 10 June 2009 in the Council of Vila do Bispo

The Municipal Council of Vila do Bispo will promote, on 9 and 10 June 2009, another edition of Wonders of Sagres, the fortress of that town.

In addition to the usual poles of animation developed in the Fortaleza de Sagres and Caravela Boa Esperança (which will anchor in the Port of Whaling), the great novelty of this edition is the inauguration of the Statue of Infante Dom Henrique scheduled for 10th June, in Avenida Comandante Matoso.
RECREATIONS historical (Cavalry of the Order of the Sacred Portugal, Seven Seas Group and Company Viv'Arte), medieval fair, exhibition and demonstration of falconry, horse tournament, show of arms, dances from the east and of a medieval and Renaissance music and Galician with gaiteiros Galicians "Galadum Galundaina" are some of the activities taking place within the fortress.


On June 9 rises to the stage the singer Algarvian Susana Travassos, taking the audience on a journey marked by the sound of tango influences of jazz, the choro, bossa nova and the fado. Presents as a guest Chico Saraiva, guitarist and composer of the new generation of Brazilian musicians.
The day closes with 9 the behavior of Nancy Vieira, the princess's voice of gold, disclosure of the music prize in 2008 and a mandatory reference in the World Music scene, with the traditional rhythms of Cape Verde.


Teresa Salgueiro & Lusitânia Ensemble will close the big event, on June 10, with the interpretation of "Mother", his latest work, based on the dissemination of music, Portuguese language and culture through the ages, from the century XIII to the present day.
The Wonders of Sagres close with a grand show that will fill the piromusical Fortaleza de Sagres of light, color and sound.
It is with the event, supported by the Fortress of Sagres and Tourism of the Algarve, and first sponsored by Sagres (Sociedade Central de Beers and Spirits), the promotion of Sagres and the County in the national and international scene, through the encouragement of a program to check the difference, estimating the membership of over 10,000 people in the two day event.

Fox Paintball Club Raposeira SagresOnline and along with some friends held a mini tournament between 20 people on 10 April 2009 made between 10h and 17h the event was divided into 2 parts.
It was Part 1 game in the forest, the 2nd part was a robbery in the house to rescue a hostage.

Final classification of all 2 parts:

3rd Place: Team B
4th Place: Team A
